The Ghosted gear Ultralightweight rope pad is designed to protect your rope from sharp edges. The pad attaches to the Strap for the Rope Pad. The material is Ultra 800x and Velcro, with a grommet hole, and the UHWMPE 2mm cord can be used to tie the rope pad to the rock or the rope.
The first person identifies the dangerous lip or edge that can damage the rope. The rope pad can be opened and laid flat on the rock with the rope pad tied off using the 2 mm line. If the pad can be placed flat, the rest of the team can simply rappel like normal.
Optionally, the pad can wrapped around the rope and secured with Velcro and the 2 mm line. Each team member will have to remove and replace the rope pad for the next person.
The last person can decide if the pad can be left and pulled down with the rope.
